What Are Cannabinoids?

Chemical compounds that hold the key to many health benefits.

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS)

  • Present in all humans
  • Present in all vertebrates and many invertebrates
  • Receptors exist throughout the body (brain, digestive system, lymphatic system)
  • Taught in only 13% of medical, nursing and pharmacy programs
  • Can be activated by going for a run, i.e. “runner’s high”
  • May be activated during osteopathic manipulation and acupuncture
  • Consists of CB1 & CB2 receptors

Mechanisms of Action

CBD demonstrates multiple mechanisms of action, one of which is increasing your body’s level of anandamide, your natural bliss neurotransmitter. Multiple NIH studies show that CBD inhibits FAAH activity, which is responsible for the deterioration of N-arachidonoylethanolamine, commonly known as anandamide. CBD also inhibits anandamide reuptake. The scientists who discovered and isolated the neurotransmitter anandamide discovered that it contributes to elevated mood. Unfortunately, endogenous anandamide levels are very low, and the half-life is rapid. CBD plays an important role by inhibiting anandamide degradation and enhancing endogenous levels. CBG and CBC, other cannabinoids present in Ananda Hemp, also increase anandamide levels.

Product Safety

Unlike THC, CBD is not “psychoactive” or intoxicating. Early studies show that even at extremely high doses, CBD remained psychotropically inactive. In other words, CBD will not cause a “high”.

The World Health Organization’s 2018 statement on CBD confirmed that CBD has an excellent safety profile, is well-tolerated, and does not pose a public health threat.

CBD is metabolized through the liver and may not be suitable for those suffering from certain liver disorders.

CBD may interact with some medications or supplements.

CBD’s safety has not been evaluated in pregnancy or breastfeeding humans or in those 2 years old.

What is full spectrum?

Nature is the Architect

We believe mother nature provides the best architecture for wellness and healing. In fact, the hemp plant has been used by humans for thousands of years as a herbal remedy to heal a host of ailments. We simply take the best parts of the plant that she has provided us, including the vast array of cannabinoids, terpenes, essential fatty acids, and other phytonutrients, and balance them in simple, easy to use formats.

There are at least 113 known cannabinoids produced by the hemp plant. However, today, our pharmaceutical industry is based on a model of developing single molecules against single targets. We are not sure that this is the optimal way to create wellness. We feel the current model is not working. Unfortunately, some of our competitors in the industry borrow from the same playbook and provide products that only contain CBD. We do not believe CBD by itself is the optimal way to consume cannabinoids; our products contain absolutely no isolates or synthetics.

Full spectrum hemp oil refers to the pure oil extracted from a hemp plant, containing unmodified cannabinoids and compounds. Unlike isolated or synthetic cannabinoids, full spectrum hemp oil contains an array of cannabinoids, as well as many essential vitamins and minerals, fatty acids, flavonoids and terpenes. These compounds have been proven to work more effectively when presented together in a specifically designed, synergistic manner than when separated into purified molecules.

Balanced, Healthy Cells

This little-known system helps maintain balanced, healthy cells.

Every human possesses an advanced physiological system known as the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). This crucial regulatory system is already making cannabinoid-like structures that foster cellular balance throughout nearly every biological system in your body.

Millions of Receptors

Cannabinoid receptors, found on the surface of your cells, are ubiquitous throughout the body and “listen” to the environment around each cell. They transmit information on current conditions to the cell and thereby jump start the proper cellular response, if necessary. Properly functioning receptors have the crucial function of creating Homeostasis in your body’s cells which keeps you healthy and operating at your peak.

CB1 and CB2 receptors are the predominant receptors in the ECS. CB1 receptors are abundant in the brain and central nervous system. CB2 receptors are sparse in the central nervous system but are common throughout the the periphery, mostly on immune cells. ECS receptors are present in almost every organ and organ system throughout the body, and they influence activities in the heart, lungs, brain, blood vessels, GI tract, liver, stomach, and more.

Naturally Occurring

It may come as a surprise that your Endocannabinoid System is already creating cannabinoid-like structures within your body that very closely resemble the cannabinoids in the products we offer.  Endocannabinoids are made when the body senses an imbalance, these molecules are created on-demand to specifically target issues inside your cells that need fixing.

The Endocannabinoid System

  • Regulates and influences homeostasis, the body’s self-regulating process to maintain balance across biological systems.
  • The ECS was discovered in 1992 by Dr. Raphael Mechoulam and his team in Israel. Despite almost 30 years of scientific inquiry, the ECS is often absent from clinical schooling and is therefore poorly understood by many.
  • Cannabinoids are molecules that interact with the ECS. Our body makes its own cannabinoids and is boosted we can consume phytocannabinoids, such as CBD, derived from plants.
